Song / Sacrificed Sons Album / Octavarium Artist / Dream Theater Year / 2005 Lyrics : Walls are closing Anxiously Channel surfing Frantically Burning City Smoke and fire Planes we’re certain Faith inspired No clues A complete surprise Who’ll be Coming home tonight Heads all turning Towards the sky Towers crumble Heroes die Who would wish this on our people And proclaim that His will be done Scriptures they heed have misled them All praise their Sacrificed Sons All praise their Sacrificed …

This song isn’t anti-religion, it’s about how mankind distorts their Bibles’ messages and uses them to wage war on each other, in connection to the 9/11 attacks. In turn, the innocent pay the price.
God’s true love aren’t acts of hate, it’s just man himself who has horribly misinterpreted it.

Oh, and beautiful song, my favorite off Octavarium along with Panic Attack.

who cares about being anti-god?
September 29th, 2009 at 14:05
A Christian, perhaps. >_>

Well that’s wonderful. You keep your beliefs and I’ll keep mine. Sound good?

Interesting view. I’ll try and listen to it from the perspective.

This isn’t anti-God. It’s anti-Muslim extremists.

this song is in no way ‘anti-god’. its about the faults of men and extremism.

Everyone seems to be misinterperating the refrain. Its typed correctly, what theyre trying to say is:
Who would do this and then proclaim that its God’s will
Hence the 3rd line saying how scriptures mislead them. Theyre misuseing, from the popular viewpoint, Ji-Had, or Holy Wars, equavalent to the Crusades.
For those of you who do not know, Islam praises a single God, Allah, which personally, I believe is synonomous with God the Father, in Christian beleif, and Yahweh, in Jewish belief.

i say anti religion, its not anti god its just against man made beliefs that use ignorance, fear, money, intolerance, stupidity, shit the list goes to long to list. Just believe in what you want but please don’t go to church its totally against what a faith stands for. Plus there is more than life then myths and superstitions.

All religion aside, it’s a good song

This song cant be anto god because DT is god… it would implode the universe if they said anything anti god \ , , / Rock on!

Wow…this song is a hard hit
Dream Theater put things into perfect perspective! Religion is just a idea, and people take it much too seriously. you don’t kill tons of people over an idea…all throughout history, the Crusades, the whole Jihad thing. It’s absolutely worthless. I don’t think I could ever do such a thing, all for an idea.

Dream Theater played this song when I went to see them last summer. I kind of got teary eyed because 9/11 is my birthday. It was awesome!!!!!!!! Them performing, not 9/11.
