What Richard Wilson Says About His ...

What would you say briefly was the underlying philosophy to your work?

I once wrote “To alter ones preconceptions of space” but what I actually do is tweak or undo or change the interiors of space (predominantly the interiors of museums and galleries when given permission) and in many instances actually enlist parts of the building as part of the sculpture, and in that way unsettle or break peoples preconceptions of space, what they think space might be.. I can radically change that viewpoint in some way.Through any kind of material, the material is the one that suits the idea best, I am not a sculptor that operates with any type of given material, I choose what is suitable or fitting to the particular requirements of the work.

Can you describe the exhibitions that you have had at Matt’s Gallery?

I have shown four times at Matt’s Gallery, three in the old space and one in the new space. The first show was in 1985 titled “Sheer Fluke”, 1987 was “20:50″, 1989 was “She Came in through the Bathroom Window”, and 1994 was “Water Table”.

So in 1985 that was my first exhibition, “Sheer Fluke” was a very large aluminium casting, 15cwt was cast in the space over a period of time to create what appeared to be like a very bent beam arking across the room with a large drawing on the far wall which was a “smoke” drawing. This all stemmed from a piece of writing about the Great Whale in the Natural History Museum but as suspended mass.So., I built this piece of work which is really all about creating a piece of work within a space, through some theatrical process.1987, “20:50″, my sort of ‘party piece’ as the title describes was basically to fill to waist height the old Matt’s Gallery at Martello Street with used waste oil, so thereby filling the space I actually by illusion or reflection seemed to double the space.

How did you come to exhibit at Matts?,

It was through a frustration that I got to Matts Gallery. I was beginning to make a name for myself as a sculptor, through the late 70’s and early 80’s and I remember a very big show coming up at the time of the big sculpture boom with The Lisson Gallery, and those kind of artists, those object makers. It was a big exhibition at The Hayward called “New Sculpture”, and it was an open submission and I remember submitting this idea for a casting and having the work rejected and I realised that I wasn’t part of a scheme of things at that particular time, everyone was moving with the fashion, making objects and I was moving further and further away.

How would you describe the experience of working with Robin?

It was a very very long working experience, I have known the gallery and Robin for almost 13 years now. What is good about that is that it means one has been able to understand where someone is coming from and see how they have developed and see how our working relationship has got along. He gave me a lot of opportunities by not interfering with the idea too much, allowing me to say to him ‘this is what I want to do’ and him basically agreeing and finding collateral to be able to put those ideas together

Where is your next exhibition?

Its in the former East of Germany, two shows together; one in Gere at the Otto Dix Museum and the other concurrently in the museum in Zwickau. Its quite busy this year but they are the imminent shows that have not yet been built or drawn! And I am moving a little bit towards to a show of objects. Its really more to do with a sequence of events that has started to make me think about changing the work. One is that I was working very much with site specific work and have been for years, and obviously there are problems with that in that you can’t tour a show necessarily, at the same time demand is so great that I can’t be everywhere at the same time

About Interior Room Paint Finishes

Painting the walls of a room are a great way to bring a new look into a drab living environment. For very little money, an entire look can be created with a few gallons of paint. However, if you have ever stepped foot into a paint store, you know the color choices are endless. Without even considering the color options, there are many paint finishes to choose from, from flat to glossy.

Depending on what room of the house you’re painting, how often the room will be used, and whether you have lots of tiny little hands around your house, you might prefer a satin paint over a matte finish. Though one finish may look better than another on sample, take into consideration how often you will need to wash the paint surfaces.

Matte – Paint with a flat, dull appearance is referred to as having a matte finish. Paint of this type won’t reflect light, so it is perfect for touching up blemished wall areas. However, it can also scratch easily. Therefore it is not recommended for walls that will need thorough or frequent scrubbing.

Eggshell – With a very small hint of gloss, eggshell paint finish is similar to the texture on an egg, hence its name. Perfect for rooms that will need cleaning, but with less vigor or frequency. This finish tends to give walls an upscale feeling, making it perfect for guest powder rooms or adult library retreats.

Satin – This interior wall paint finish has slightly more gloss than eggshell, and is most often used for doors, trim, window sills and kitchen cabinets. It can be used for walls as well, but doesn’t stand up to scrubbing as much as semi-gloss paint. It’s the prefect choice for an elegant looking baby’s room or the formal dining room.

Semi-Gloss – Perhaps the most popular interior paint choice, semi-gloss paint stands up well to washing. It is a good choice for bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms. The gloss of this finish allows for easy wiping of the spills or crayons markings that kids leave behind. However, it tends to show blemishes more easily when walls are not properly prepped.

Glossy – Interior walls pained in gloss or high gloss are very rare, though more homeowners are choosing it to paint a special room, or accent small areas of a room — such as kitchen cabinets. Gloss finishes are easy to wipe off, though the paint itself will make all imperfections stand out. Surface prep is therefore very important.

Choosing paint for your next remodeling or decorating project can be a daunting task, but knowing a bit about what is available before you go by is the best way to prepare yourself. If you do your homework and know what you need, your only worry will be picking the perfect color to go with the room’s furnishings.

Know more about Digital Art technology

If you are interested in pursuing a course in digital art from a digital arts engineering college, you need to know more about what digital art school is all about. Digital art school is generally the place where you will be trained in the use of computer to create art in digital form. It is more of contemporary art using the methods of digital media and mass production. The use of digital technology on art has also brought new art forms such as digital installation art, net art, and virtual reality.

Some of the aspects of art have been transformed from traditional art (such as drawing, painting, and sculpture) to modern art due to the incorporation of digital technology. Some new art forms have also been developed. Some new art forms that you expect to find in a digital arts school are:

Digital installation art is the use of three-dimensional works to transform perception of a particular space. Installation artworks have been constructed in galleries and museums and in other places.  This style incorporates a wide range of materials like new media (sound, video, performance, virtual reality) and internet. Many of the installations are designed to exist only on the space created.

Net art is the use of the internet as the platform in which to create art. The artists who apply this are called net artists. This form of art is most often participatory, interactive and multimedia based. However, it does not refer to art that has been uploaded to be viewable on the internet. It purely relies on the internet for it to exist.

Virtual reality is a simulation technology that allows interaction between the user and the computer-simulated environment whether real or imaginary. The visual experiences are displayed on computer screen or on stereoscopic displays. It also includes the Additional information such as sound through speakers, etc.

This art field includes digital photography, computer graphics, and computer assisted painting. All these are very interesting field to pursue in a digital art school. You can enroll to the digital arts engineering college for all this and much more. Digital arts engineering college prepares the student to an exciting career as a digital artist.

Good Things About Aerial Photography and ...

Good quality photos greatly depend on the manner of taking them. One popular example of commercial photography is the real estate photography, which many companies with this nature of business utilize in producing promotional materials.

Photo releases are good publicity materials this is why most firms make use of it in introducing their products and services. When it comes to real estates, blimp aerial photography is commonly used. This cost more than the usual photo services but a wise company would not mind taking this as a promotional tool for it promises wonderful returns.

Aerial photography in Utah is a method of photography wherein subjects are taken from great heights. The cameras used for this type of picture-taking cannot be supported by tripods since aerial cameras are used from helicopters, blimps, airplanes, or other aircrafts. The photographer must be skilled at this because framing the picture requires consideration of altitude and picture angle to achieve correct perspective.

Aerial photography has a wide variety of uses. Its outcome can be used for maps or stitched together to produce images of an area’s topography and major elevations. These pictures can also be useful in real estate advertising and brokerage firms to show how neighborhoods are laid out.

High altitude aerial photography is used in land-use planning, commercial advertising, environmental studies, archeology, artistic projects, and many more. Aerial photos of Utah real estate undergo analysis and assessment before they are distributed to the targeted market.

Good thing that real estate firms can make use of advanced radio controlled models to conduct even low-altitude aerial photography. Modern pieces of equipment such as these have been very advantageous especially for advertising purposes. Real estate advertising is conducted for both commercial and residential properties.

Since some potential properties are hard to reach for inspection and assessment, model aircrafts are available to use. Small-scale model aircrafts offer increased photographic access to these previously restricted areas. Miniature vehicles, however, cannot be a substitute for a full-size aircraft since the latter is capable of longer flight times, higher altitudes and greater equipment payload.

Although aerial photography is advisable especially for commercial purposes, it’s not easy to perform. You would need a professional to tackle this job. Every clear real estate shot ensures a step closer to success. With this type of photography, potential clients get more information about the area wherein they plan to purchase a home or put up a business facility.

Professional photographers with exemplary skills, perseverance to achieve quality shots and an eye for details are definitely needed to perform aerial photography.

Three Common Myths About Investing In ...

Collecting fine art is quickly becoming a more common method of investing and saving money. Putting your money into artwork can result in more of a return than a regular savings account, which is contrary to what most people believe. Many people don’t think of fine art collecting when it comes to managing their money — but nothing could be further from the truth. Here are some common myths about fine art investments and financing.

Some of the biggest myths concerning fine art collecting and finances are that it doesn’t appreciate quickly enough to be a good investment. Also, a widely-held assumption and falsity is that art doesn’t do well in a down-turning economy and that prints aren’t valuable. This article dispels each of those myths and proves that art can be a suitable way to improve your investment portfolio.

MYTH: Art Doesn’t Appreciate As Fast As Traditional Investments

TRUTH: This couldn’t be further from the truth. A piece by Andy Warhol worth $1,000 in 2005 is worth about $3,250 today. Simply put, the art market is consistently showing impressive returns, often beating out traditional investments. Two business professors from New York University agree. Michael Moses and Jiangping Mei have complied and tracked the performance of fine art. The Mei Moses Index covers Impressionist, Modern, American (before 1950), and Old Master artists. “From last year, through the end of 2007, all our index was up 20% while the S&P total return was up 5%,” says Michael Moses (co-founder, Beautiful Asset Advisors).

MYTH: Art Investments Don’t Do Well In A Down-Turning Economy

TRUTH: Fine art collecting is known to be a recession-proof method of investing. Because art values aren’t dependant on any country’s stock market or currency, they can continue to appreciate over time, regardless of the current state of the economy. For example, foreclosures have crippled the real estate market, but fine art investments continue to do well. Well-known artists like Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol are some of the many whose works continue to appreciate in value. The reason for this is simple: these artists are no longer living, limiting the number of original pieces available for sale.

MYTH: Prints Aren’t Valuable

TRUTH: An original, authentic, limited fine art print created during the artist’s lifetime carries with it the value of being printed by the artist’s hand. That is impossible to reproduce, and that is why it will always be valuable. When most people think of prints, they think of mass-produced posters that can be found anywhere. In the art world, a print has a completely different definition. An art print is usually produced in limited editions that are often hand-signed by the artist. Usually you can find a number such as 15/150 which means that your copy was the 15th numbered out of a total edition of 150 (frequently there are also a few artist proofs). Collectible works were printed under the artist’s direction and with the artist’s approval. The plates used to make the prints were almost always destroyed shortly after the printing run. This means they are in limited supply and it impossible to recreate an original.

When it comes to fine art collecting, there are many myths regarding art and investing. Art has proven to be a unique investment opportunity that is sure to appreciate while you enjoy its beauty every day.

Everything You Need To Know About ...

Classical music is a broad term that usually refers to music produced in, or rooted in the traditions of, Western art, or ecclesiastical and concert music, in the period from the 9th century to the 21st century. The central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is known as the common practice period.

Classic music is still played by many of today’s musicians. European classical music is largely distinguished from many other non-European and popular musical forms by its system of staff notation, in use since about the 16th century.

Classical and popular music are often distinguished by their choice of instruments. The instruments used in classical music were mostly invented before the middle of the 19th century. Some of them had been designed even earlier, and codified in the 18th and 19th centuries. They consist of the instruments found in an orchestra, together with a few other solo instruments such as the piano, harp, accordion, and organ.

The great majority of classical music gear fall into six major categories – bowed strings, woodwind, brass, percussion, keyboard, and the guitar family. The first four form the basis of the modern symphony orchestra.

The classical guitar was originally a Spanish-derived, six-stringed instrument. It is played using a plectrum or the finger-nails, with frets set into the fingerboard. Popular music tends to use amplification for both the six-stringed instruments and the four-string bass guitar. The guitar family gradually supplanted the lute which had come to prominence during the Renaissance.

The piano is widely used in Western music for solo performance, chamber music, and accompaniment. It is also very popular as an aid to composing and rehearsal. Although not portable and often expensive, the piano’s versatility and ubiquity have made it one of the most familiar musical instruments.

The piano is sometimes classified as both a percussion and a string instrument. In the period from about 1790 to 1860, during the Mozart-era, piano underwent tremendous changes, which led to the modern form of the instrument. Early technological progress owed much to the English firm of Broadwood, which already had a reputation for the splendor and powerful tone of its harpsichords.

The accordion is played by compression and expansion of a bellows, which generates air flow across reeds. A keyboard or buttons control which reeds receive air flow and therefore determine the tones produced. The accordion’s basic form was invented in Berlin in 1822 by Friedrich Buschmann. The accordion is one of several European inventions of the early 19th century that used free reeds driven by a bellows.

The violin is a bowed string instrument with four strings tuned in perfect fifths. It is the smallest and highest-pitched member of the family of string instruments, which also include the viola and cello. The oldest documented violin to have four strings, like the modern violin, was made in 1555.

Significant changes occurred in the shape and structure of the violin in the 18th century, particularly in the length and angle of the neck, as well as in the bass bar. Most of the old violins have undergone these modifications, and hence are in a significantly different shape than their forerunners, undoubtedlys with differences in sound and response.

Everything You Wanted To Know About ...

The beauty of photography is the opportunity it provides to those who take photographs. There is a wide array of possibilities for the photographer who is looking to make money taking pictures. Some may opt to take pictures of the beautiful sunset or mountains, while others like to hire themselves out to people to take photographs for them. Event photography is a very popular type of employment within the photography industry. Event photography software serves to make this job a bit easier. Not sure what event photography is and why you might consider it? Read on to find out all the information on it.

What is Event Photography?

Have you ever been to a wedding? That’s a silly question because most likely, you’ve been to a lot of those. What about a sporting event or a concert? Chances are, if you’ve gone to any of these, you’ve noticed photographers there taking pictures of the event. This is, in a gist, what event photography is. It is photography taken at events such as a wedding, sports event, concert, awards show etc. Event photography software will help you with this job.

Do Event Photographers Make Good Money?

If you’re looking for a type of photography that is pretty much sure to earn you good money, event photography is it. While for most photographers it isn’t all about making money, they can’t deny that event photography is very lucrative. Some event photographers have reported making as much as thousands of dollars for taking pictures at one event. That’s certainly a lot of money.

It’s worth noting that not all event photographers make this type of money, although most do provided they’re very professional. Event photography software helps them to take and manage professional event photos.

What Equipment Do I Need?

People will pay to have quality event photos taken, so it’s important for you, as an event photographer, to have quality equipment. This means making a bit of an investment. You’ll need to spend money to get money you need to purchase some of the best photography equipment available, which includes the camera and event photography software.

Let’s start with the obvious: the camera. You’ll want to get a digital camera, but stay away from the very small cameras – those are for amateurs. There are some great digital cameras on the market which have the traditional camera look, but are digital. These have the big lens, great zoom features and excellent megapixel quality. Go for a digital that has at least 8 megapixels. This may cost you from $400 on up.

Grab a good event photography software program, too. A good event photography software program will allow you to manage your photos in the easiest way possible. If you’re not sure which event photography software program to buy, read some reviews online or ask around.

Next, you’ll want to invest in a big memory card. Think at least 2GB, because the photographs with the highest quality tend to take up the most space. Nothing is worse than being at a gig and running out of space, so buy a few 2GB cards and you’ll be set there.

Good batteries are also required. Make sure they are long lasting and hold a good charge (if they’re rechargeable). Get an extra set of batteries, too.

Finally, you’ll want to invest in a good stand and case. The stand will allow you to take great still shots, while the case will protect your investments. Definitely don’t skimp here.

Why Do Event Photography?

Still not sold on why event photography could be a great choice for you? That’s alright, as many people are skeptical of it. We’ll give you a couple reasons here.

-Flexibility. One of the great things about event photography is that it providers photographers with a great deal of flexibility. You are able to choose how many events you do and how many hours you work. Usually, you won’t have to work weekdays, or if you do, it may only be for a few hours. This is good for parents who want to work and still have time with their kids. Using event photography software can help to make things even more flexible and easy.

-Great Pay. Have you ever wanted to make hundreds or thousands of dollars for just a few hours work? You can do exactly this as an event photographer. Event photography pays very well, so it’s very easy to make a lot of money doing it.

Why Event Photography Software?

There are a lot of reasons why you should use event photography software, but we won’t get into all those now. Instead, we’ll just give you the biggest reason, which is that it makes your job a lot easier. Event photography software will automate the process of managing and naming photos, and will even help you when it comes time to edit the photos. That is why you should consider buying event photography software.

Ron McNeil promotes software to sell photos online and to start your own event photography software and run your own stock photography software site powered by Web Scribble software located at http://www.webscribble.com/products/webstore/

An Idea About Bronze Sculpture

Bronze sculpture is a beautiful art medium that can produce a lot of great items such as busts and other types of sculptures. Bronze is the most popular type of metal for casting sculptures. The reason is because many common bronze alloys have an unusual quality for metals that give it time to slightly expand before the bronze sets, so it has the ability to fill all of the fine details inside a mold. Bronze is a strong metal and does not get brittle. This helps when making a bronze sculpture; many other types of material such as ceramic and stone can have the tendency of being brittle and chipping. The one disadvantage to bronze sculptures is the value of the material. Very few ancient bronze sculptures still exist because many of the sculptures were melted down to commemorate a victory over another country or melted down to make weapons from.

The Greeks were the first people to begin scaling life size figures out of bronze. There are still a few examples of this such as the Victorious Athlete which was preserved by seawater and was rescued to display in a museum. There are many more Roman examples of bronze sculptures. The ancient Chinese and Egyptians also learned various techniques in order to create beautiful masterpieces in bronze. Many of these statues and other works of bronze are displayed in museums today.

The process of making bronzes are complicated, but may people take on the challenge in order to make something beautiful out of this particular type of metal. There are different types of casting processes that can be used to cast bronze, including lost-wax casting, investment casting, sandcasting, and centrifugal casting. All of these skills can be learned by sculptures, and once they learn all of them they can stick with the particular casting process that they prefer most.

The way that most large sculptures are made is by making multiple smaller molds in order to get the right proportions and pose. Then, an intermediate mold is made to perfect all of the find details. If it is an extremely large scaled sculpture, one more intermediate may be made. The final sculpture is made with a material on the insides so that the piece is not as heavy as pure bronze. The modern way of making a large sculpture is also utilizing welding techniques in order to put pieces together rather than trying to get a perfect sculpture out of one pour in a mold.

The way an artist will finish their bronze sculpture is by polishing the bronze. Some artists will put a corrosive material like patina on that will give them more ability to control the final color and finish of the sculpture. There is also a softer bronze called ormolu that is coated with gold to produce more of a matte gold finish. It was popular in 18th century France and is found in a lot of wall sconces, clocks, and garnitures. It makes a clear ring when tapped, so you can tell that they are made of bronze and not a cheaper metal.

About Wholesaler of Brass Statues, ...

India is a place of different kinds of handicraft and handcrafted statues and sculptures from the

ancient age. Centuries old temples and civilizations are founded in India with a unique sample of handicraft reflecting artistic beauty. Specially the temples in South India bears this great old history of Indian handicraft, as you can see different types of hand curving statues and sculptures in the wall of these temples. All these old temples especially in chennai, kerala, hariyana attracts the people through the beauty of statues and figures made on the wall. For example dancing lady which is normally known as “Nartaki”, “Nataraj”,”Laxmi”,”Ganesh or ganesha”,”Shiva and parbati”, Shri Krishna and Radha Ji”, “Goutam Buddha” are as religious god statues. Different animal figures are also made, like running horse, lion, tiger etc. The centuries old temples and other historic items prove the capacity of the artisans about making statues and sculptures for home decoration and expressing the social life story of that time.
