Piano Lessons And Their Importance

There are so many things in this world that are very old and are very valued. Some of these things are old buildings that have stood for centuries. Some of these things are old antiques and fun things. Still, some of these things are ideas, and the idea of music is one, especially piano lessons.

Music has been around a very long time. It is estimated that music may have been a way in which early man communicated with other members of their families or tribes. This is really the oldest entertainment that there is on earth.

Music is very hard to conquer and it can be made and heard in so many different ways. There are beautiful and graceful sounding orchestras that give shows in opera houses. There are also large brass bands that give historic concerts, reminding people of the days of Sousa and his military band. There are also players that like to give off the sounds of the violin and the piano, which are both instruments seen to convey the feeling of the classical period.

The piano is one of the oldest forms of the early pedal instruments that there is. The people of the time wanted to create an instrument that used chords on the inside, but that could be activated by keys. What they came up with was the harpsichord, a common instrument in castles and palaces in the middle ages. This instrument soon evolved, shedding some of its pieces and gaining others, becoming the instrument that we all know today.

Hours of work and what can be called natural skill are requirements of being able to play the piano successfully. The first step towards being able to play the piano is learning all about the notes. Knowing which keys play which notes is essential in being able to read music and playing the music that other artists and pianists have written.

The piano can be a difficult thing to conquer, and there are certainly varying degrees of the difficulty of the music that can be played, too. Some music for beginning players only requires the use of one hand, or maybe the use of one finger from each had. As you begin to learn more, you will start to use more and more fingers. Some advanced music requires the use of eight fingers at one time!

When you listen to music on the radio, you might be touched by the sound sometimes. This feeling and emotion that you feel when listening to the radio should also be felt when playing the piano. A good piano player must be one with the music that they are playing. Grace and things like varying pitches and loudness all can contribute to this. A good player automatically knows how to play their notes, just because it feels right.

Piano lessons are the first step towards knowing and mastering the piano. It is possible to start on your own and be able to master it through workshops online, but the personal feeling that a teacher gives helps success. A good teacher will be understanding of your learning styles and they will always be well educated in fields such as music history and music theory.

It’s never too late to learn how how to play music. As one of North America’s most respected and well-known Music School, they offer Piano Lessons and a singing coach at our two GTA locations. The first lesson is free!

This reintroduction to the fast-fading Indian culture can be attributed to the fascinating animated movies that have recapitulated the good old Indian epics for our young generation. And who can forget the ever-so-famous characters of Tom & Jerry, Mowgli, Stuart Little, Popeye, and many others that were brought to life by animation. In the endearing world of animation, lifeless images are brought to life through different tools and techniques.

With the expanding world of media, the demand of animators is also on the rise. Be it movies, television, cartoon film making, advertising, media or gaming, good animators rule the roost. In the world of animation, reality meets imagination and impossible becomes possible. Unthinkable graphics, special effects and evolved technologies come together to create a world that sweeps you off your feet. This upcoming industry has opened new doors to opportunities. A lot of creative people are choosing multimedia and animation as full-time careers and making good money out of it.

Multimedia means combining text, graphics, animation, video, sound, interactivity and conveying a message in an appealing manner. Therefore, just being creative is not enough. One has to be technically sound too. Although one has to have a good drawing hand to become a good multimedia expert. Thus, if you are blessed with immense creativity and imagination, there is no dearth of job opportunities. One can find a good full-time or freelancing job in the fields of television, cinema, video production, advertising agencies, publishing, web design, preparation of CD ROMs, fashion designing, textile designing, interior design, etc.

When it comes to training, there are numerous computer-training centres that offer training in multimedia and animation. It is good to check out the facilities and faculty at the institute before joining any institute. One can enroll in a Visual Communication and Design course straight after 12th standard. However, if one is already a graduate in fine arts with an aptitude for drawing, one can join production houses or studios as a trainee. National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad offers a course in Animation Film Design. In private institutes, Arena Multimedia offers basic as well as advanced courses. Even NIIT has developed a special programme called Maxi media to help learners build the skills needed for this market. All the institutes mentioned above provide training in these and there are advanced courses to acquire specialization.

One can choose from the following type of courses to make a career in this segment:

Digital interactive multimedia course acquaints students with the new media like mobile, Internet, etc. An advanced diploma in digital visual communication and animation gives hands on knowledge of this industry and prepares one for careers in animation, multimedia, special effects, games and others.

One must understand that all courses offered are not of the same calibre. Before joining any institute or course, one must contact these institutes and discuss in detail with the faculty and understand their individual strengths. Also, it is a good idea to meet people in the industry and ask questions. Try to find out if the institute offers practical experience. Also, find out if they can help you find a job once you have finished the course.

After completing an appropriate and acquiring the appropriate skills, one can be absorbed at various levels such as graphics designer, visual artist, supervisor, digital film animator, senior animator, web designer or web author. Graphic artists can be employed by magazines or newspapers, books, advertising agencies and graphic design firms as well as non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, companies and for specific events.

Pursuing a Career in Graphic Design

A graphic designer — sometimes also called graphic artist — is a creative person who places together images or motion graphics (or both) with typography to produce an artistic and persuasive piece of work. Graphic designers create such work for printed, published or digital forms of media (newspapers, magazines, TV, film, Internet) for use in advertising.

Some graphic designers are responsible for illustration, typesetting and web design. Because these are specialty subjects within graphic design, only someone who is trained in this particular field will work on such projects.

The main responsibility of a graphic designer is to present information in such a way that is easily accessed by a lay person and also it looks pleasing to the eye.

Many graphic designers produce work for clients to promote, publicize or advertise a certain product, service or topic.

Many graphic designers have obtained degrees by going to college, or graduating from one of the many credited trade schools. In some cases, graphic designers do not need a specific college or trade degree to work as a designer at a reputable company; however, most graphic designers have vast amounts of experience by doing “hands-on” work.

No matter what kind of graphic designer you become, your job encompasses visual presentation of tangible and intangible things. Many graphic designers work in print, periodicals, advertising or other related fields. Whether you are designing a CD cover or the label on a can of corn, your job functions will primarily be the same. If you decide to become a graphic design in the advertising industry, then your focus is to represent the object that you are trying to sell to a target audience. You want your design to be superior, original, attractive, yet appropriate to what you need to represent. You will spend much of your time brain-storming, trying to create appropriate design ideas. Your job as a graphic designer is to come up with new and visual ways to represent an object or idea. This is not easy work, but it can be fun and challenging.

Your life as a graphic designer will bring you into many brain-storming sessions with clients. The meeting room is where you will discuss projects with other graphic designers, advertisers, writers and other professionals. Graphic design is very collaborative. Expect to work with other highly-creative individuals. The experience is both exhilarating and challenging. During meetings, clients will expect you to participate or lead a group of designers towards a common goal.

If you decide to freelance as a graphic designer, an average day may look very different than a day working with a team of designers. Many freelance graphic designers work from home. You may spend a lot of time communicating with clients via e-mail and conference calls. As a freelance graphic designer, you must have the discipline to stay on task and finish individual projects on a timely basis. Although you have the freedom of working from home with no supervision or little interruption, you are responsible of generating your own ideas.

If you desire to become a graphic designer, then it’s essential to produce a good portfolio. Your portfolio will show off and display your talents to their fullest. Most graphic designers continually update their portfolios during the course of their careers.

Whereas 20 years ago, a graphic designer had to carry their work in either a big black binder or thick portfolio case, today most graphic designers digitize their portfolios and make their samples of work to prospective clients either through the Internet, on a CD or a DVD. As you can see, the invention of the computer and the evolution of technology has made graphic design much easier.

Music Lessons Offer Many Great Benefits For Children

Children are great and you want to keep them that way. As a parent or teacher, you want to give them all you can in life to help prepare them for whatever life happens to throw at them. It might be somewhat surprising to know that there many children thrive from having music lessons. Let us help you look at music lessons for children – benefits to help you understand what they can do for the children that are in your life.

When you look at psychology with children, they talk about a lot of different areas that need to be worked with throughout life so that it can fully develop. The cognitive development is the way they think. You need to work on their senses and attention. As well as work with the motor skills. Music helps a child do all this as they learn to play a musical instrument or sing.

Those who are into music do well when it comes to the two areas that a normal child struggles with on tests. These are the math and the verbal portions of tests. It is shown that children who are doing music lessons score better points on these areas. What parent would not want that? As these are the two areas that kids mostly struggle, it is nice to know that there is some hope for them.

Those high school students who struggle with math might benefit from this as well. As we all know, math gets more complicated in middle and high school. Those kids who have played an instrument while in high school has been said to have done better in math by the time they graduate.

Those who have had the music programs throughout their life have said it has helped them. It gave them motivation to stay in school. Though they did not fully understand math and reading, music and the arts program gave them something to keep them going.

There was even a study done to show the social impact that music lessons have on the social well being on children. These were even more amazing. Studies have shown that children who do music lessons often stay away from drugs and alcohol.

Studies have also shown that the simple music lesson can help a child when it comes to racial injustices, fighting, and boosts ones self esteem. This are all things that a child wants to learn to deal with, but in ways we cannot teach it. They have to learn how to deal with it. Many do this by putting the anger and the negative feelings to music.

As you can see, there are a lot of things that can happen from the simple use of allowing one child to do music lessons. Sure kids might give up on it like they do other things, but it is your job to encourage them to stick with it. Look at all the reasons one should feel honored to. If you do not believe us look at what the Board of Education has done to seek these benefits.

Make Your Career In Photography

Are you interested in photography as I am and virtually all of us are? Then you can turn your passion for picture taking into a Full-Time Money-Maker! You only have to get over the initial hesitation and inertia. “Will I be any good in this field?”  “Would my photographs appeal to others?”  “Will anybody pay for my photographs or even like to see them?” These questions may keep coming to your mind and this is natural also. Such questions occur in the minds of all of us whenever we try something new. And even the most successful professional photographers of today must have faced this situation when they started their careers. So get over those butterflies in your stomach and think positive.

A career in the business of photography is great. You are doing something which is interesting to you. And at the same time you are earning a livelihood out of your hobby. Your interest in the field will make it more entertaining for you to learn new things, experiment with them and come out with fabulous results.

Broadly speaking, there are three areas of photography viz. general, commercial, and advertising. Most people go into the area that best interests them and sometimes it is just in general photography. Whatever may be your experience, it is always advisable to get some formal training in photography. This will give you a lot of success when it comes to commercial or advertising photography.  When you take the classes or training program you are bound to learn something new about the art of photography.  Training will also enable you to find your niche in the photography market.

General photographers shoot  general things like weddings, portraits, and family pictures. General photography will help you to do some freelance work for mostly commercial businesses.

Commercial photographers do work for companies. This includes doing work for newspapers, catalogues, architectural businesses, and other corporations that need photographs to be taken. They may be part of the company staff or they may just be freelance photographer working on contract. Most commercial photographers specialize in a particular area.

Advertising photographers help companies in advertising. It is  difficult to be successful here. But once they get through they get high rates. They will have their name in magazines, TV shows, etc.

You have to decide where you belong based on your knowledge, capability, capital, and the effort you can put in. Now let me give some tips on taking quality photographs. As a photographer, the weather can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Since it is impossible to control the weather and have ideal conditions all the time for your shootings,  you have to make the most of what you get. Whether it is a sunny, rainy, or cloudy day, you can always use the landscape to create beautiful shots.

The golden hours  for photographers are two hours in a day. These two hours occur right after sunrise and right before sunset. During the early morning and late afternoon, the sun is in a perfect position for dramatic lighting, but at the same time it does not create harsh shadows or blazes of light, especially when shooting with persons. You may have noticed that if you take a subject outside to shoot a little bit before noon one of the three possibilities may occur. First, your subject in trying not to squint into the sun could ruin your picture. Second, your subjects look  too dark because they are standing with the sun behind them, creating a silhouette effect. Lastly, your subject’s face and features look distorted because standing with the sun at one side creates awkward shadows. None of the options can give a good photograph. Sunrise and sunset provide exactly the right kind of lighting and shadows, and a beautiful photographic opportunity  since the colors are so beautiful in the sky.

When it comes to a cloudy day or overcast conditions, do not lose hope ; you can still get great pictures. The clouds in the sky diffuse the light so that the subject is illuminated with natural evenly distributed light with the harsh shadows eliminated. You may still need to use a flash if the pictures appear too flat, but you may also like to shoot in black and white, instead of color.  Black and white photography works very well on overcast days.

On rainy days you get apprehensive and worried, but you can still get some great shots. Rain will add an interesting element to the image and you will still be able get to a good picture. Use the rain to make a great and stunning effect on the pictures.

In landscape shooting, you may be disappointed when the prints don’t look as professional as pictures taken by other photographers. Landscape photography is as much an art as portrait or still life photography. However, you have to learn to use what you got when it comes to making a landscape work for you and take the pictures that you desire. Remember the basics and always think with a photographer’s mind. You do not have the power to move the scenery, but you can move to get the perfect position. And learn from experience and common sense how to pick a good scenery to work with.

You also need to think about color and tones. Most people look for spectacular colors of nature to make their photograph beautiful.  You also want to use color to give the pictures added sparkle; however you also have to learn to use the colors to enhance and not distract you from the lines of the pictures. It’s Never Too Late to Learn to Sing

Whether you sing in the shower or love to belt out tunes at church, singing is a part of your life, and it is never too late to refine your skills. Even if you think you couldn’t hold a tune in a bucket, you can learn to sing and improve on your current singing ability. First, you need to dispel some common myths about the human singing voice.

Myths About Singing

Many people fail to learn to sing because they think that they can’t. Some think that they were born “tone-deaf,” and others think that only a select few have singing “ability.” While some individuals do have an inborn ability to control pitch or volume better than others, most people can learn these skills. It is very rare for someone to have absolutely no ability to detect tones, which would be true tone-deafness. Statistics show that only around two percent of all people in the world have this problem. Most people who have trouble singing to a particular pitch simply need to have their ears trained to hear these pitches.

Learn Your Range

Are you a soprano or alto, bass or tenor? Learning your range will help you select songs to sing that fit your voice. Just as a trombone cannot play the same notes that a piccolo does, an alto cannot try to sing the same high notes that a soprano can easily hit. If you choose to take voice lessons, have your teacher help you explore your full range, and then choose songs that fall within the boundaries created by your natural voice.

Breathing Correctly

Correct breathing is the key to good singing. Learn to take deep breaths using your diaphragm muscle, not your lungs. To find your diaphragm, take a long, slow breath, and try to push out your abdomen, keeping your shoulders still. If you can do this, you have learned how to breathe with your diaphragm. Then, project your voice out through your head, not your mouth. Visualize yourself sending your breath and voice out through your forehead. This will train you to use your “head voice,” which is far more pleasing to the ear than the standard voice used by most amateur singers.

Sing with Emotion

Once you have learned some basic skill and know what your range is, choose some songs and start singing. When you sing, enjoy yourself. Allow your emotional side to show through your song. If you sing with emotion, people will respond and appreciate what you are singing, even if your voice is not on par with the professionals.

Are You Too Old?

Many adults wonder if it is too late to learn to sing. It is never too late to learn. In fact, many singing teachers will not training children to sing, because their voices are not yet developed. However, as an adult, you will benefit from professional training. You have spent a lifetime learning poor singing habits, so learning to sing as an adult will require the help of a qualified singing teacher. However, with the right training and plenty of practice, you can develop a singing voice that you will be proud of!

How to take People Photos

Photographing people, especially friends and family, is a lot of fun. Now it’s time to get creative and take your portrait photography skills to the next level. These tips will help you turn snap-shots into photographs you will cherish.

1. Placing your subject in the middle of the frame is generally a bad idea. The reason being is because it makes for a very uninteresting photograph. Try placing your subject in the left side or the right side of the frame, because now you are including some background in your photo, adding context.

2. In regards to lighting, you want a soft light on your subject’s face. You will usually want the light source to your back, because if the light source is behind your subject, they will end up being very dark (sometimes you may want this effect) and you will lose detail in their face. Outdoor lighting (natural light) is always best, and that is generally before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m.

3. On some cameras you will see a “Portrait” setting, and what that does is set a shallow depth of field creating a blurred background. The advantage to this feature is that your subject is clearly the main focus of the photograph. To manually create this effect, set your aperture below 5.6.

4. Don’t be afraid to get close to your subject. Zoom in; fill the frame with their face. Also, photograph your subject looking somewhere else besides the camera. Always make sure that your subject is comfortable and having fun.

5. Don’t forget that a portrait does not just have to be a subject’s face. Challenge yourself to capture your subject without including their face. Can you tell a story using your subject’s hands, feet, or possessions? Where do they enjoy spending time, where do they work, where are they in their element?

6. Be creative. Try tilting the camera, or have the person move around. In low lighting (and using a tripod), you can use a long shutter speed to create streaking effects.

There are no specific rules to follow, just have fun. Ask you subject if they have any ideas for certain shots or locations. Remember, after your photo shoot, it is nice to send your subject a photograph.
