What am I saying?Read on and find out. I have a few words of wisdom if you look for advice on this topic.

So if you want a quick answer here’s the deal. Purchase the best axe you can for the following reasons.

If it sounds good and feels good you will play it more often and that’s why you bought the guitar in the first place isn’t it? The last thing you want is to spend money on a instrument that doesn’t inspire you to play and end up giving up on music.

In my twenty as a guitar instructor I had quite few students and it’s funny to notice that the questions beginner players ask are often the same. Therefore I would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few issues. An all time favorite is whether you should start with acoustic or electric guitar lessons and my answer is always the same: “Acoustic guitar lessons!” My reasons are the following:

Acoustic guitars are loud enough and you don’t need any amplifier or gadgets you would normally need if you play electric. That will save you quite a bit of money you could invest in online video tutorials or even a better guitar.

When you play acoustic you focus on basic guitar techniques like chord changes, strumming and fingerpicking and you don’t need to think about any advanced electric guitar stuff. That will help you lay down a good foundation.

Strumming songs sounds better on acoustic guitar and it will definitely inspire you to play more.

Acoustic guitar is easier to take with you on camps, school trips or wherever you want just because you don’t need to plug it into an amp and it’s completely self sufficient.

Acoustic guitar is harder to play compared to electric guitar and that will make your hands stronger and help lay down a solid foundation.

Once clarify we should leave the electric guitar for a later stage, the next question is whether to buy a nylon or a steel string guitar. That is completely a personal choice as the two instruments have different tone and are used in different genres of music. If you want to play classical, flamenco, bossa nova or latino a nylon string is what you need while the steel string is common in more contemporary styles like pop, country and rock.

Novel Writing Made Easy: It Starts With One Simple Idea

Novel Writing Made Easy has ideas for fiction novel writers. Writing a novel begins with a simple idea. That story idea is what will lead you to your story plot, which is the core of what you need for writing a novel.

Plot is simply the plan of your story. Its the movement of the people in your story through situations and through settings to get to certain goals. Some novel ideas are about a situation. Some ideas about a character. No matter where your idea starts, you must turn the idea into a plot if you want enough story for writing a novel. Remember your goal is to make novel writing easy!

How do you do this? By asking questions. The two questions you want to ask to transform an idea into a plot are: What if? What if is the seed question to every novel plot. To get a full, complex plot, you must ask this question over and over and over and over.

Take the idea of an alternate universe where fat is considered beautiful. To transform this idea into a plot you might ask, What if a very obese woman from our universe ended up in this alternate universe? What would that be like for her? What if she suddenly was considered a drop-dead gorgeous in this alternate universe? What would that be like for her? What if she started losing weight? What if by losing weight, she ends up as unhappy in this universe as she was in the one she left behind?

Do you see how this work out? You play with what if. Once you’ve asked the what if questions several times, you’re ready to ask the next question. Why? The why question expands on your what if questions. You use why to flesh out the scenarios you came up with as a result of asking what if.

For example, one of the what if questions for the alternate universe idea could be this, What if the main character started losing weight? To expand on this what if, you would ask, Why? Why would she lose weight? The why would take you back to what if. What if she lost weight because she was so happy that she no longer ate to cover her pain?

That what if would lead you to another why: Why, if she ate to cover pain, wouldn’t she just eat again once she started losing weight in the new reality? Wouldn’t that make her unhappy enough to binge again? Why wouldn’t she just go back to eating a lot? That why, again, will take you to a what if: What if she no longer wants to eat to cover pain-something in her experience of this new universe has changed her. She just doesn’t know what it is. What if? Why? Do you see the process?

You ask what if. That gives you information. Then you ask why. That gives you more information, which leads you back to what if. Its impossible to structure novel plotting much more than this. Its a general brainstorming process that requires your mind to be free and full of possibility. This brainstorming is what will give you the foundation of what you need for writing a novel. Why Guitar Chords Are So Important

Ask most people what they first learned to play on guitar and they will probably tell you “guitar chords”. This tends to be the shortest route to producing some kind of music from the instrument especially in the early stages of learning.

Buy a guitar chord book and it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the 1000′s of chords and names contained with the pages. In truth however, you only 10 basic shapes to open up 100′s of songs!

Guitar chords are grouped into different families and this is decided by how the chord is built, in other words, it’s structure. As a beginner you only need to worry about learning 3 families of chords. These are the most important and form a basis upon which all others are constructed. They are Major,Minor and Dominant 7 chords.

One of the most common problems when learning chords on the guitar is to get them to sound clearly and without any bad erroneous noises. Initially you could be surprised by how hard to need to press down to get to sound properly and this of course is going to result in your fingers hurting.

I refer to this as a kind of ‘pain barrier’ which all guitar players must go through. After a few weeks the skin on the tops of your fingers will harden and once this happens, playing guitar chords will no longer hurt you.

We have two main categories of guitar chords. Open chords are the easier of the two and typically represent the types of beginner chords we all first learn. They use open strings and are stationary.

The second kind are called Barre Chords (pronounced Bar). Barre chords are much harder than Open Chords and as a result beginners will normally wait anything up to a year before learning them. Barre chords can be moved up and down the neck to form new chords without any problem. The main advantage of learning them is the new array of keys they will open for you to play songs in.

Try to resist the urge to learn an overwhelming amount of guitar chords in the beginning stages. It’s counter productive and will ultimately frustrate you. Instead concentrate on a small group of highly used ones and put them into action through songs. By approaching guitar chords in this way you’ll develop a very useable collection over which you have a mastery.

There are quite a few different kinds of acne, depending on how or why the acne developed. Some of the types of acne are: acne conglobata (chronic boils); acne fulminans (an extreme form of conglobata); acne cosmetica (caused by cosmetics); acne keloidalis nuchae (from shaving); acne medicamentosa (caused by starting or stopping a medication); acne rosacea (redness on the face); baby acne; hormonal acne; cloracne and the common variety: acne vulgaris (better known as ‘puberty spots’). We will concentrate on acne vulgaris.

Acne vulgaris may be (defined|described as: ‘an inflammatory disease of the skin, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland). Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots or zits’ (from Wikipedia).

Acne is most common in white Western teens, although it is to be found in every country in the world, so there may be a genetic weakness to it. It is possible that it could be an exceptional reaction to fairly normal levels of testosterone. For most sufferers, the condition lasts only until the age of twenty or so, probably only a few years or at the most ten. For other people, however, it can be a life-long affliction. It most often appears on the face, upper-chest, upper-arms and back. However, an occasional spot is not the same as acne.

Acne vulgaris appears in various ways, which include: whiteheads, resulting from pores that are totally blocked, trapping sebum (oil), bacteria, and dead skin cells, causing a white spot on the surface; blackheads, resulting from pores which are only partially blocked, allowing some of the trapped sebum, bacteria, and dead skin cells to slowly drain to the surface (the black colour is not a result of dirt, but is a reaction of the skin’s own pigment, called melanin, with the oxygen in the air); papules, which are inflamed, red, tender lumps with no head and pustules, which are similar to whiteheads, but are inflamed, and look like red circles with a white or yellow centre.

Whiteheads do not usually last long; blackheads do last a long time and pustules are what people call spots. Severe acne vulgaris is distinguished by nodules and cysts. A ‘nodule’ is a much larger and more painful kind of pustule and can often last for months. Nodules are large, hard bumps under the skin’s surface. They frequently cause scarring and should never be squeezed, which could cause them to last for months longer still.

A ‘cyst’ may look like a nodule, but it is full of pus and has been defined as having a diameter of at least 5mm and, again, can cause scars and cause pain. Squeezing an acne cyst can cause a deeper infection and more painful inflammation which can last very much longer than if it had not been squeezed. Dermatologists have methods of reducing the swelling and avoiding scarring with both nodules and cysts. It is a myth that acne sufferers are not careful about washing.

Indeed, it is a little-known fact that, excessive washing can exacerbate acne. There are many, many useless ‘treatments’ in the shops and many, many old wives’ remedies. However, any honest skin expert would tell you that there is no sure-fire cure for acne and that the patient should follow a strict regimen of cleaning until the acne eventually ‘goes away’ of its own accord.
